Heal through spoken word at the Dudley Café (15 Dudley St, Roxbury) 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. The evening will feature performer Angelica Maria Aguilera. There is no cover, but a $5.00 donation is suggested.

Boston City Councillor At-Large Ayanna Pressley invites you to the 3rd Annual Jump into Peace, a family-friendly event bringing people of all ages together for poetry, community, and double dutch. This free event will be hosted at Malcolm X Park (47 Elmore St, Roxbury) 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Dust off your open mic skills with Soulkore at Bella Luna (284 Armory St, Jamaica Plain) 9 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. This is a 21+ event.
Friday, August 5
Bring your circle of friends to First Friday at the Museum of Fine Arts (465 Huntington Ave ) to celebrate “Dos Mujeres” by Frida Kahlo! Party like Frida would have in 1929 when she celebrated the first work she ever sold, which will be on view in the Art of the Americas Wing as part of the new installation, “Kahlo and Her Circle.” There will be fine art, music, bars featuring signature cocktails, and delicious snacks available for purchase. Tonight Soul in the Square kicks off The Highland Park Music Festival with an outdoor music festival in Roxbury’s John Eliot Square from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The event will feature D. J. and producer, Rich Medina out of Brooklyn, New York along with Highland Park’s own D.J. Chris Grant. This is a grown folk event, so you may want to leave the kiddies at home.
Have some family fun at Wollaston Beach in Quincy with a free family event featuring inflatables, games, prizes, face painting, balloon animals, crafts, and more from 12:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.! Families can picnic on the beach or purchase concessions from Daddy’s Fried Dough. Bring blankets/lawn chairs for the movie, Zootopia on the beach at sunset! All children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Celebrate young women at the Young Women’s Summit taking place in Hibernian Hall (184 Dudley St, Roxbury) 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The day includes a panel discussion featuring Michelle Cook, Tiffany Payne, Samara Gaul, and Sailee as well as live performances.
